Larry Nassar was the USA Gymnastics Doctor who worked for almost two decades. 1.Larry Nassar Personal Life and Education

Nassar was born in Michigan. He attended and graduated from Michigan State University with medical degree. He started his career by helping the North Farmington High School gymnastics team as a student physical trainer. Nassar was then assigned as the member of the USA Gymnastics National Team medical staff in 1986. After that, he completed practice residency at St. Lawrence Hospital in 1996 and also primary care sports medicine fellowship from Michigan State University in 1997.

2.His Career

In 1986, he became a member of USA Gymnastics national team followed by National Team physician after a couple of years. He was then assigned a role to the Board of Directors as the National Medical Coordinator in 1996. Nassar has been part of Olympic Games four times in Atlanta, Sydney, Beijing and London. During that time, he was assigned to take care and provide medical assistance to athletes/Gymnastics.

Larry also became the physician at Michigan State University for the Women’s Gymnastics and Women’s Crew Team. In his career, he has won several awards like USA Gymnastics Shirley Marshack Memorial Award for the Development of the Talent Opportunity Program (2003), United States Women’s Gymnastics Elite Coaches Association National Contributor of the Year (6 Times), USA Gymnastics Service Award” Presented by the USAG Athlete Advisory Council August (1997) and many more.

3.Larry Nassar Wife and Children

Larry Nassar is married to Stefanie Nassar. Together they have three children named Ryan Nassar, Katelyn Nassar and Caroline Nassar. After a bombshell dropped regarding his sexual allegations, Stefanie Nassar has filed for divorce. Stefanie is also asking for custody of the three children she and her husband share.

4.Sexual Misconduct and Child Pornography

Nassar was arrested on federal child pornography charges on December 2016. Over 37K images and videos of child pornography were seized from his home. Some of them also include video of Nassar allegedly molesting girls in a swimming pool. He pled guilty to federal child pornography charges and was sentenced to 60 years in prison.

After few months later, his case became complicated as it was taken to Ingham County circuit for trial. More than 50 women who were his patients filed complaints against him and more than 30 have filed civil lawsuits. In Eaton County Circuit Court, he pled guilty to engaging in a sexual misconduct with three children under the age of 16.

5.USA Gymnastics Sexual scandal


After fist public allegations were made in 2016, more than 140 women including USA Gymnastics national team members Aly Raisman, Maggie Nichols, Jeanette Antolin, Simone Biles, Jordyn Wieber, Jamie Dantzscher have came forward of sexually abusing them.

McKayla Maroney who won multi-gold medal with USA Gymnastics accused Larry Nassar of sexual abuse when she was only 13 or 14 years old. In Nassar’s trial she said:

“As it turns out, much to my demise, Dr Nassar was not a doctor, he in fact is, was, and forever shall be, a child molester, and a monster of a human being. End of story! “He abused my trust, he abused my body and he left scars on my psyche that may never go away.
