Shalom Ifeanyi Wiki
Shalom Ifeanyi, a former University of Cincinnati volleyball player is suing the school, claiming that she was expelled from the team because she posted Instagram pictures that her coach said was “too sexy”.
The 19 year old player filed the lawsuit alleging racial and sex discrimination, sexual harassment and violation of due process by the University and volleyball coach Molly Alvey.
Coach Alvey recruited Ifeanyi in high school. Upon her arrival on campus, Alvey began harassing and shaming the pictures she was posting on her personal social media accounts. The complaint also said :” No such requests were made to other members of the women’s volleyball team who were of slighter build and lighter complexion despite photographs picturing them in outfits, including but not limited to, two-piece swimsuits,”
Shalom was awarded top performer of the week by the training coach during the week of June 24. On June 29, 2017, Alvey called Ifeanyi on her office and told her that she was dismissed from the team and said they had different philosophies.
Molley who is the volleyball coach has been in the campus since 2012. She had her most prolific season in 2016, earning American Athletic Conference Coach of the year honors and leading the team into NCAA tournament. She played basketball and volleyball at Centre College in Kentucky, earning her bachelor’s degree in economics in 2001.She was also inducted into the Center College Athletics Hall of Fame in October of 2016.
Regarding Shalom, she is now seeking compensatory damages, punitive damages and attorney fees.
